When you use Cardomatix, you may share photos, ideas and details about people who matter to you. Here is how we use that information and what happens if you choose to share your artwork.
Who looks after your information
Cardomatix is based in the United Kingdom.
For questions about your information, email hello@cardomatix.uk.
Your photos and ideas
We use your idea, any photo you upload and your chosen art style to create your artwork. This involves sending the relevant material to our AI image-generation provider.
We store uploaded photos and finished artwork privately. Uploading a photo does not give us permission to display it in the Gallery.
Photos are not deleted automatically. To have a photo removed, email hello@cardomatix.uk.
Only upload photos you have permission to use. Where someone else is shown, make sure you have the necessary permission, including from a parent or guardian where appropriate.
Your artwork and downloads
The studio shows a watermarked preview. We keep the original file privately so we can provide it for an eligible purchase.
For a paid digital download, each secure download link is valid for 48 hours from when it is created. The expiry of that link does not itself delete the stored artwork or cancel your purchase.
An account lets you return to your own artwork collection. Other account holders cannot browse your private collection.
Removing an item from your collection does not necessarily erase the original file or related order records. If you want to request deletion, contact us so we can explain what can be removed and what needs to be retained.
Choosing to share in the Gallery
Sharing is optional and separate from buying. The Gallery displays finished artwork with a watermark when you give permission through the available sharing controls.
We do not display your uploaded photo, written idea or account details alongside the artwork. The artwork itself may still show recognisable people, places or other details included in your creation.
You can withdraw permission through the sharing controls in My Studio, through your withdrawal link, or by contacting us. Removing an item from your private collection is not the same as withdrawing Gallery permission.
Copies already saved elsewhere cannot be recalled. Previously cached images may also remain visible temporarily after removal.
Accounts and information you save
You do not need an account to create artwork. If you join, we use your email address and account information to provide My Studio. We also store the occasion details, notes and sharing preferences you choose to save.
Orders and payments
Stripe processes payments. Cardomatix does not store your full payment-card number.
We keep purchase information, which may include your email address, artwork and card design, payment status, order amount, and delivery name and address.
When an order is sent for printing and delivery, we share the design and delivery details needed to fulfil it with our print and delivery providers.
Service activity and contact messages
We record activity and technical information to operate the studio, apply creation limits and investigate problems. This may include the idea and style used for a creation, whether it succeeded, error information and the associated account or guest identifier. These records are not public.
If you contact us, we keep your name, email address and message so we can respond and deal with follow-up questions.
Why we use information and who helps us
We use information to provide the studio, manage accounts, complete purchases, protect the service, respond to enquiries and manage optional Gallery sharing.
We use providers for AI generation, hosting and storage, account services, payments and email. We also use third-party providers to print and deliver card orders.
Cookies and storage on your device
We use cookies and browser storage to recognise guest artwork, keep you signed in and retain parts of your work. Your idea, preview and card design may be saved in your browser, and your basket can remain between visits.
Clearing browser storage may remove local progress or the information used to recognise a guest purchase. If you enable biometric login, sign-in information is also retained on that device. Take care when using a shared device.
How long we keep information
Some information may need to be retained to resolve an order problem or meet a legal obligation. We will explain any relevant limits when responding to a deletion request.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your information, have it deleted, restrict its use or receive a portable copy. You may also have a right to object to particular uses. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.
Email hello@cardomatix.uk to make a request. We may need to check your identity before releasing or changing information.
You can also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and bring material changes to your attention where required.
